Apollo Lifts
The brief
To
develop a concept that could be utilised variously
for a staff incentive, a company thank you and a
corporate entertainment day for key customers.
The
challenge
The
reason Apollo wanted to use the same concept was
to derive maximum value from their investment. At
the same time, they wanted the concept to be something
unique, unusual and exciting and preferred to put
their money into one amazing idea rather than three
lesser ones. It just had to be an idea that would
work three times over…
The
solution
In
a nutshell, the Sunseeker Summer. Masquerade used
their contacts to negotiate a very competitive sponsorship
package for Apollo with a Sunseeker powerboat racing
team; the team was undertaking a number of record-breaking
runs around the UK during the summer, attracting
plenty of TV coverage and giving it a very ‘sexy’ appeal
into the bargain. As part of the deal, Masquerade
not only ensured plenty of corporate logos bedecking
the boat but was also able to arrange for: a staff
member to be rewarded with a day participating in
an actual record-breaking attempt, scooting over
the waves at up to 85mph; later on, for the whole
office staff of Apollo to enjoy a fantastic day out
on the south coast and to experience the thrill of
some of the fastest powerboats on the planet; and
before the summer was over, for a number of Apollo
key clients and consultants to do the same. All a
far cry from the game of golf they usually get from
other companies!
The work
It
started with the sponsorship package and negotiating
the terms and conditions; it moved on to working
out all the logistics and costs for the three separate
events to ensure that we were within budget. All
the travel arrangements, catering and accommodation
was also arranged as the client really wanted to
be hands-off; while on the days themselves, we supplied
both photography and video teams to capture everything
for posterity. Commemorative videos were subsequently
produced, complete with soundtrack, and presented
to all participants.
The verdict
Apollo Lifts knew that they had
to deliver a summer of fun to various people but weren’t
quite sure how to go about it. They had done some innovative
events in the past but were looking for a completely
fresh approach that would deliver eye-popping results
but not blow the budget wide open. As a well-run company,
they were obviously looking for excellent value and
a good return on investment. The Sunseeker Summer delivered
all of that and more.

was an inspired idea and for everyone who participated,
it was one of those ‘once in a lifetime’ occasions.
Masquerade demonstrated that tight budgets are no
barrier to creativity. We needed our money to work
hard for us and these guys really made it sweat!
As for the arrangements on all three days, they were
perfect, with Masquerade personnel discrete but always
in control and ensuring that everyone had a day to
remember. We can’t recommend them highly enough.”
